After winning Christie 7s, their third leg in 2019, KCB saw their chances of winning Stanbic 7s go high after bagging the maximum 22 points to stay top with 94.
Second placed Mwamba RFC lost to KCB in cup semis and eventually to Impala in the bronze final to pick 15 from the Nairobi leg and sit second at 84 points.

With everything set to come down at next weekend’s Driftwood 7s, KCB can secure the title for the first time since 2014 by finishing just fifth.
Fifth place finish assures them of at least 13 points which would put them at 107. If Mwamba were to win Driftwood 7s, they would have 106, one behind KCB.
However, with Nakuru finishing second at Christie 7s, they are in the equation as they would be crowned Stanbic 7s champions may them win the cup(22 points) in Mombasa and hope KCB and Mwamba are beaten in cup quarters and lose 5th place semis.
Technically, Homeboyz will not defend the title as they would require KCB to lose the challenge trophy final and Mwamba/Nakuru results go their way too.
