Kenya 7s kicked off Hong Kong 7s with a 22-5 defeat to Fiji on Friday April 5, 2019 in Hong Kong.
Skipper Jeff Oluoch scored Kenya’s sole try that was not converted with the Fijians running in four tries and one conversion.
'It's like rugby but in two-speed. Fast forward, blind pass on the inside, jump-step, bounce-step, the lot,’ said commentator Rob Vickerman as Fiji went 17 points up.
Aminiasi Tuimaba was the first to go over for Fiji followed by Vilimoni Botitu and Jerry Tuwai before Alasio Naduva rounded the scoring.
Nondies center Oscar Dennis made his debut in the defeat starting from the bench alongside Bush Mwale, Johnstone Olindi, Mark Wandeto and Augustine Lugonzo.
The other pool clash ended New Zealand 40 Australia 19. Kenya closes day one at position three in pool C with one point, same as fourth placed Australia but due to goal difference.
