Kenya Rugby Union insist Paul Murunga is still the Kenya 7s head coach despite reports saying the technical bench has been shown the door.
A report published by the Star Newspaper last week said Paul Murunga had been replaced by his assistant Kevin ‘Bling’ Wambua.
However, speaking on Thursday during the launch of Safari 7s, KRU vice-chairman Thomas Opiyo said there no changes that have made to the Kenya 7s technical bench at the moment.
“The board is yet to make a decision on Kenya 7s technical bench. When time comes we will tell you(the press).
CEO Sylvia Kamau added that: “We’ll probably have changes.”
Kenya 7s are set to resume training in the second week of August according to Opiyo to prepare for Safari 7s set for October 19 and Tokyo 2020 Olympics qualifiers.
Shujaa finished 13th at the World Sevens Series with 37 points, 10 above Japan who were relegated.
Wambua is currently coaching Mwamba where his charges lead the circuit standings with 39 points after two tournaments.
Murunga on the other side is coaching Mean Machine at the Stanbic 7s.
