Kenya’s quest to reach the first cup quarters in the 2018/19 HSBC World Sevens Series continues on March 9 at Vancouver 7s in Canada.

Kenya 7s is banded in pool B to play last weekend’s silver medalists Samoa, Fiji and hosts Canada.

Head Coach Paul Murunga this week received a boost with the arrival of play-maker Johnstone Olindi, who missed Las Vegas 7s, and Mean Machine captain Shadon Munoko who replaced injured Brian Wandera.

“The boys are in high spirit ready for Saturday,” Murunga told Raga House from Canada.

“Shaddy and Olindi are here and we will give them a chance and see how we proceed. 12 players have been give a chance to play in the World stage.”

“We are building Rome and in the near future we will become World Champions again. It needs a courageous coach to build a team in season and stay focused.”

Pau describes the Vancouver as a ‘’tough” one as they seek to reach cup quarters for the first time this season.

“The earlier we get to play these teams the better. We can’t avoid them if we want to get to the top. We have to get our mind set and put our body on line.”

Kenya’s first match at Vancouver 7s will be against Fiji at 9.39pm on Saturday followed by Samoa at 1.30am on Sunday and last pool game against Canada at 4.40am.

Last year, Kenya was to come out second best to Fiji in pool C - that also had Spain and France - at Vancouver after winning the final pool game 24-21. The two went all the way to the final where Fiji scooped Kenya 31-12 to take Gold.
