Kenya 7s put aside their early 24-5 defeat in their pool A Paris 7s opener to claw fancied Fiji 22-19 in the second game played from 2.46pm on Saturday 9 June.
Kenya also ended Fiji's 26 match unbeaten run. The last time Fiji lost a World Rugby sevens match was on 5th March 2018 to USA7s . 96 days ago.
Kenya opened up a 15-0 lead with tries from Collins Injera, Willy Ambaka and Andrew Amonde and went on to lead 15-7 at half time after Fiji responded with a Semi Kunatani try that Nacuqu converted.
Eric Ombasa's try, converted by Eden Agero stretched Kenya to a 22-7 lead. In the second half. Two further tries from Fiji, from Vakurunabili and Kalione Nasoko - converted by Vatemo Ravouvou ended the game at 22-19.
In an earlier pool A game New Zealand booked their place in the quarters with a 22-17 win over Samoa who face Kenya in the last game at 7.52pm.
Series chasing Fiji will face the All blacks in their final encounter from 8.14pm
