Kenya 7s qualified for Hong Kong 7s cup final after beating New Zealand 21-12 in the second semifinal played on Sunday 8 April 2018 at the Hong Stadium. Shujàa will play Fiji in the cup final at 2pm after the latter beat South Africa 26-24.
The two sides met three weeks ago in the final of Vancouver 7s with Fiji winning 31-12.
Collins Injera scored two first half tries for Kenya with Quins winger Willy Ambaka adding one more in the second half to register the 21-12 win.
A quick try by Nicole Amanaki , converted by Rocky Khan, had the All Blacks up 7-0 but within two minutes Injera's touchdown, accompanied by a top up by Sammy Oliech had the game level at 7-7. Injera was to add his second late in the half, Oliech adding the extras, to send Kenya to the breather with a 14-7 lead.
Ambaka then added the third for Kenya in the 13th minute, Oliech sure with his boot after, for Kenya to hit a 21-7 lead. An unconverted Jona Nareki try for New Zealand settle the game at 21-12 as Kenya booked Fiji in a second straight final.
