29 Kenya 7s players have been invited by Kenya Rugby Union this November for medical and physical assessments to prepare for the upcoming season.
“Due to the covid19 pandemic and following guidelines put in place by the government as well as World Rugby, we have started with Shujaa who underwent their covid19 tests on 10th November 2020,” stated KRU.
Among those called are World 10s series champions Andrew Amonde (captain), Collins Injera, Willy Ambaka, Oscar Ouma and Oscar Dennis.
Impala Saracens duo of Sammy Oliech and Alvin Marube are joined by Menengai Oilers trio Harold Anduvate,Derrick Keyoga and Mark Kwemoi.
Blak Blad’s Archadius Khwesa is also invited as Kenya begins preps for a season that will conclude with Tokyo 2020 Olympics next summer. Innocent Simiyu has since been appointed Kenya 7s coach after the unceremonious exit after 2018 World Cup.
Last month NOCK announced plans to hold camp for all national teams set for Tokyo 2020 Olympics at Kenyatta University. National coaches Innocent 'Namcos' Simiyu of Kenya 7s, Benjamin Musa of Kenya Boxing, Camilyn Oyuoya of Kenya Lionesses and NOCK's Geoffrey Kimani inspected Kenyatta niversity's gymnasium as a possible venue for the teams' residential training.
