Kenya Simbas and KCB hooker George Asin has been ruled out for up to eight months after undergoing a surgery on Thursday June 29, 2017.

Asin, who made the final Kenya 15s squad for 2017 assignments after a successful season with KCB, underwent a successful Anterior Cruciate Ligament(ACL) surgery that will take him eight months to be fully back to action.

He sustained the injury during a recent Kenya Simbas 10-day camp in South Africa going ahead to miss matches against Germany and Uganda.

The Kenya Cup and Enterprise Cup winner will return to action in late February 2018 which will give him a chance to fight for a position in the Simbas team ahead of World Cup qualifiers.

"Its Sad but I have come to accept that everything happens for a reason. It is always an honor to be called up and at least I proved that I have what it takes to be among the best in the country," said Asin.

"I had a 2 year setback in my career and came back stronger. God did it once and I believe he will do it again. I will be back, better and stronger than before. I promise I am not yet done," the hooker added.

During his absence, Peter Karia is expected to continue as first choice hooker both at KCB and Kenya Simbas with the likes of Francis Kariuki and George Gichure set to get playtime at KCB.
