KCB hooker Geroge Asin will make the long-awaited Kenya Cup return after being named in the matchday 23 to take on Nondies in the sixth round of the 2021/22 Kenya Cup on Saturday, Jan 15 at Ngong racecourse.

Asin has been out after undergoing elbow surgery in 2021 which marked a sixth major surgery in his 19-year career.

“I feel amazing to be able to return to play the Kenya Cup,” Asin told Raga House. “I am hoping it’s the last time I will ever go under the knife.I believe I could have been better than the Asin you know today if it wasn’t for these injuries but you know what, I can’t re-write the past.

Asin starts on the bench with James Ochieng named as the starting hooker. The defending champions a fourth win in the current season sitting fourth having played fewer games.

It has been painful and emotionally draining to watch from the sidelines knowing very well my input would have been of value somewhere to my team. I thank the whole KCB family for really encouraging me and for the RTP(Return to Play) program they have in place for injured players.

Joining the team halfway through the season, I hope I can help them win the 5th consecutive cup. This is all we are focused on this season. With the youngsters Wilfred Waswa and James Ochieng proving that they deserve the jersey at the club, I hope I can prove once more that old is indeed gold”

Asin has had surgeries on his right wrist-growth plate, Right Knee- ACL and Meniscus, Left leg- Fibula and Deltoid ligament repair.
