Former Kenya 7s assistant coach and Southern Kings backs coach Vuyo Zangqa is on his way to Russia for a coaching stint, Sport 24 reports.
Kings were recently liquidated meaning Zangqa lost his job but has been thrown a lifeline by the Narvskaya Zastava club in St Petersburg.
He will be the head of Zastava’s sevens programme and also assist in the 15-man game.
“After the kings were liquidated, I hoped that someone would appoint me –based on my experience,” he told Rapport newspaper. “I talked to one or two (South African) provinces but nothing came of it.
“I received a call from a friend from Russia. He told me they had heard I was available and that they were looking for a sevens coach. After a few Zoom meetings, they offered me a contract.”
Apart from Kenya and South Africa, Zangqa also coached Germany Sevens as the head coach.
