Floodies MoTMs: Namusasi starts life at Mwamba on a high

Debutant Elvis Namusasi claimed his maiden gong in a Mwamba jersey, taking home Man of The Match (MoTM) in the 25-3 beating of Nondies in a plate semi-final clash of the Impala Floodlit tournament.

The Kenya Simbas hopeful was one of the six players to be feted with the award; others were flankers Andrew Amonde and Frank Wanyama, Alex Maina, Kelvin Munene and Marvin Karungii.

The newly-acquired playmaker played a starring role in securing Mwamba a slot in the Plate finals. Among his contributions was a dead-eye accurate first half penalty which ensured the duel was locked at 3-all at the break.

In the other plate semi, eventual victors and the current plate holders, Kenya Harlequins,  produced the match's finest in blindside flanker Frank Wanyama. Wanyama, who has turned for Shujaa in the past, was responsible for Quins opening try in their 22-13 win over Nakuru.

Wanyama wasn't the only blindside flanker to be feted, with long-serving Shujaa Andrew Amonde also taking home a similar award for his performance against Menengai Cream Homeboyz in a cup semi-final duel.

Strathmore Leos winger Alex Maina, whose late try brought the students to within touching distance of the cup finals, was the only player from the losing side to claim the MoTM award; Leos went down 20-18 to hosts Impala in the cup semi finals

In the varsity category Mean Machine scrum-half Marvin Karungii and Kelvin Munene of USIU were the creme of the crop: Karungi chipped in with a try in Machine's 34-22 win over CUEA Monks, while Munene was seminal as USIU held on to beat Swaras 17-12.
