Former Kenya Rugby Union CEO Sylvia Kamau is among 23 Kenyans gazetted by Sports CS Amina Mohamed as part of the advisory committee on the resumption of sporting activities in Kenya.
Kamau, a former director of sports at Strathmore University, will engage all key stakeholders including but not limited to sports organizations and collect their views on resuming sporting activities.
Mwamba RFC team doctor, Dr.James Ondiege is also part of the committee. In 2018, Ondiege represented Kenya at the World Rugby Medical Commission Conference in London where injury-prevention and player load in elite rugby topped a packed agenda.
All sporting activities in Kenya including rugby have been on suspension since March.
The terms of reference are: review the existing global trends in resuming of sporting activities; explore the possibility of resuming of sporting activities in the Country.
Recommend protocols that should be applied while resuming and review and recommend on any other matter that may affect resuming of start.
The committee is expected by the minister to provide their report on the above by July 10, 2020.
