After one season in the top flight, Kenya Cup debutant Catholic Monks were forced to wave the competitive league good bye after a 0-33 beating at the hands of visiting Western Bulls – a tie played at the Catholic University on Saturday 21 February.
Catholic Monks went into the tie well aware it was a win – or else a trip back to the Nationwide - the later being applied.
With four points – from their only season win over Mombasa at the same venue, Monks had a three point deficit compared to another Varsity side Mean Machine.
One side of their prayer was answered – that Mwamba beats Machine – that they did; 49-6, as they picked a win over Echulusi. It was not to be as the Monks joined Mombasa RFC in falling off the relegation trap door.
